In the past few decades, festivals have become a very common form of presenting contemporary art. Festivals are often seen as a handy tool for regional development, gentrification, the promotion of tourism, etc. Art festivalisation has generated "project artists" that shape their artistic practice around the commissions of art festivals and biennales. Is it possible to turn the format of "festival" into a critical and discursive event?
