SURVIVAL KIT 12 offer for schools: 

apply for group guided tours by October 31!

From 4 September to 31 October, in nine venues around Riga, for the twelfth time the international festival SURVIVAL KIT is taking place. This year, twenty-five works of contemporary art can be seen in Jānis Akuraters Museum, Krišjānis Barons Museum, Rainis and Aspazija’s House, Museum of Janis Rozentāls and Rūdolfs Blaumanis, Andrejs Upīts Memorial Museum, Ojārs Vācietis Memorial Museum, Romans Suta and Aleksandra Beļcova Museum and Neiburgs Hotel.


We invite schools and student groups to get acquainted with the festival in the company of art mediators of the Latvian Center for Contemporary Art. Choose a convenient time and book a guided tour to explore the museums in the center of Riga or Pardaugava:


1) Andrejs Upīts Memorial Museum, Romans Suta and Aleksandra Beļcova Museum, Krišjānis Barons Museum or Rainis and Aspazija’s House

! The tour lasts a total of 2 hours and takes place Tuesday to Saturday during museum hours. A longer walk is also possible, and it includes a visit to the Museum of Janis Rozentāls and Rūdolfs Blaumanis


2) Jānis Akuraters Museum, Ojārs Vācietis Memorial Museum, Eduards Smiļģis Theatre Museum

! The tour lasts a total of 2 hours and takes place Tuesday to Saturday during museum hours.


The guided tour in the company of an art mediator is free of charge with a valid entrance ticket to the museum / festival. Tours can be booked in Latvian, Russian and English. For a group visit (limited to one group up to 20 people), it is possible to pay by invoice. Reservation is required, and to make it, call +371 2958 6893 or write to mara@lcca.lv


The festival ticket (9 EUR) is valid for entering all festival museums, with only one visit to each museum, from 3 September to 31 October. Tickets can also be purchased separately for the standard price set in each of the museums. The entrance fee to the festival museums for pupils and students is 1 EUR, except for the Roman Suta and Aleksandra Beļcova Museum, where it is 0.50 EUR. Admission to the museums is free for teachers accompanying a group of at least 10 children or students. As the tours take place indoors, during excursions visitors should follow the epidemiological safety requirements set for educational institutions, including the requirement for unvaccinated students to wear a mouth and nose mask. Excursions to the festival venues are possible only with prior registration!

Students over the age of 18 are allowed on group tours only after presenting their vaccination certificate together with the identification document.


 SURVIVAL KIDS


Within the framework of this year's contemporary culture forum White Night and at the same time also within the international contemporary art festival Survival Kit 12, this Saturday, September 4, you are welcome to join workshop for families “Skaistuma mušiņu rāmētava”/ “Framing of Beauty Flies” created by artists Gundega Evelone and Andris Landau will take place from 16.00 to 20.00 (free access throughout the afternoon). 


About the workshop: During the unusual workshop, using sculptural techniques and capturing visitors' bodily distinctions with a polaroid camera, the artists will work with the visitors to create and frame small works of contemporary art. "We, your beauty flies, birthmarks, scars, warts, bushy eyebrows and wrinkles, are offended that you despise us in this way. You hide us under thick layers of makeup, erase them with lasers and stretch them behind your ears. we make homo sapiens faces different and recognizable. We celebrate your life experience and mark achievements, and we need to be highlighted for that. "

During the workshop “Framing of Beauty Flies”, everyone will be able to celebrate any peculiarity of their own skin and finally bring it to a place of honor. It will be possible to fix the body marks in a specially equipped photo studio, create a luxurious one by hand, and place it in a photo frame to be placed in a place of honor at home.

The workshop will take place outdoors, a distance of 2 meters must be observed (except for 1 household members - 4 adults and 6 children), crowding is not allowed.

All materials needed for the workshop will be provided.

15.00 - 21.00 We invite you to learn more about the Survival Kit 12 exhibition and museum together with Art ambassadors!

You are also welcome to join excursion of the festival Survival Kit 12 curators Ovül Durmuşoglu and Joanna Warsza in three museums of Pārdaugava in English, beginning at 15.00 at the Eduards Smiļģis Theater Museum.
