Ručs un Norie. Documentary, Latvia, 2015.
Director: Ināra Kolmane
Ručs un Norie is a story about the encounter of two exotic worlds that create a striking emotional and spiritual relationship. Norie Tsuruta, a master's student in anthropology from Japan, is coming to Latvia to study and write her master's thesis on the Suiti region. Here she meets one of the oldest Suiti wives, Marija Steimane, called Ruča, who does not know a word of English, but sings. Norie learns Latvian language and songs. And anthropological interest is gradually turning into the closeness of the true spirit, which does not go out even when Norie is forced to return to Japan. In the future, Latvia and Japan are bound by an invisible and very personal thread - Ruča is worried about Norie "there, in the distance" and worried about every earthquake in Japan. But Norie calls Ruča her Latvian grandmother, wants to return and in her homeland goes to watch football in Latvian national costume and together with her friends calls: "Sarauj, Latvia!".
