Survival Kit 7

Contemporary art festival Survival K(n)it 7

Curated by Solvita Krese and Inga Lāce

September 4 - 20, 2015

Krišjāņa Barona Street 14, Riga, Latvia

Following the format of the previous years, Survival K(n)it 7 invited artists to search for creative and alternative modes of survival, reflecting on both local and global social tendencies. The theme of that year’s festival – Survival K(n)it – was entwined within its name using a wordplay, and emphasized the hidden potential of everyday activities, ‘small things’ to influence wider processes in society. Within the context of the festival’s theme, knitting as an ordinary pastime symbolised creative initiatives, the interwoven public and private domains, while also underlining socialising and participation.

This project was part of the action "This Is Tomorrow. Back to Basics: Forms and Actions in the Future".
