Exhibition "The Wonderful Trip"

Group exhibition, 2009

The concept of “The Wonderful Trip” exhibition is mostly about the desire to include art in a survival kit, along with practical items and survival strategies. Art, just like life, is a journey. And there are various journey strategies. On the one hand, artists travel a lot to acquire new impressions; on the other hand, their work later becomes a kind of a journey for the spectator. The same goes for books and music. Thus a journey can be not only physical but also spiritual, taking place in one’s imagination.

In this exhibition artists will reveal their unique travelling experience: from childhood to now, from Latvia to foreign lands, from art history to individual creation. The exhibition does not claim to give unambiguous answers or a nice row of self-assuring postcards; it rather tries to reveal individual strategies of the artists and their road to the revelation of a miracle, full of doubt and accident.
