Displaces Fractures
Installation, 2011
Most of the monuments around us are the ones whose existence we no longer remember. Since time immemorial nature has brought matter to a halt and we can witness these fleeting moments. It is memories for the future that have been carved into these testaments on displaced pedestals. They are collages of observation on the interaction of the creations of man and nature. In this era, busy with choice and picking options, monuments have also become an imperative of moments captured in books, magazines and DIY photographs. Capturing the disappearing, halting the never recalled, stopping the unstoppable is the source of these displaced fractures.
Artist's Bio:
A graduate of the Arts Academy in Milan and a participant of numerous exhibitions in Italy and elsewhere in Europe. Kristīne creates her works using various materials and techniques – painting, collages, objects, space and sound installations, etc. and often bases them in already existing forms – natural phenomena, geographical structures and surface fragments. These are documented, framed and cleared from specific visual information thus transforming into abstract forms and imaginary landscapes. (I.A.)
