The Facebook of Natālija Draudziņa Gymnasium

The project offers a transition of a social network from virtual environment into planes and spaces, for us to see and explore how exactly the currently so popular Internet sites come to be. These particular cards of common acquaintances are celled ‘Go-To People Maps’ – clearly perceptible networks which allow for the viewer to observe how their circle of acquaintances grows and develops. By means of the “Theory of six handshakes” one can realise that there are just a couple of yet unknown people.
Artist's Bio:
Laganovskis’ work frequently reflects such themes as power, sensuality and lust revealed through references to history, politics and social reality. In the 1980s and 90s Laganovskis turned to strictly political and ideological contexts, the themes which he later showed as universal social mechanisms. His recent work reflects these times through the prism of particular phenomena or personal experiences from cultural history. The author uses a conceptual approach linking texts and visual signs with ironic references to particular experiences from particular times and locations.
