In the framework of this project we have published two special issues. First titled “Confronting Muted Memories. Reading Silences, Entangling Histories” in Baltic Worlds (Dec 2020; publisher: The Centre for Baltic and East European Studies (CBEES) Södertörn University, Stockholm).
The second special number, titled “The Return of Suppressed Memories in Eastern Europe: Locality and Unsilencing Difficult Histories” in Memory Studies (Vol 15, Issue 3, 2022; publisher: SAGE Publishing).
Both issues grew out from the interdisciplinary symposium “Prisms of Silence” that we organised in the Estonian Academy of Arts in February 2020. The event brought together artists, curators, art historians and literary and theatre scholars to discuss the contemporary legacies of the twentieth-century past.
Baltic Worlds includes contributions by Giedrė Jankevičiūtė, Jan Miklas-Frankowski, Lia Dostlieva & Andrii Dostliev, Zuzanna Hertzberg, Kati Roover, Rasa Goštautaitė, Annika Toots, Elisabeth Kovtiak, Margaret Tali and Paulina Pukytė.
