As a result of Latvia's historical events, as well as today, we experience human migrations. What would Latvia be today, and what could Latvia be tomorrow if it could fully utilize the potential of Latvia's newcomers? From highly qualified engineers during Soviet times to janitors today, or from an experienced dentist today to a warehouse worker tomorrow? How many newcomers must be discriminated against to breed hatred and anger towards the country and the society in which they live?
The discussion was moderated by Miks Celmiņš and featured Margarita Putniņa, a lecturer, pedagogical doctor, poet, translator, and Buddhist nun Končog Dordže Khadro; Dainis Deigelis, a poet and mentor for asylum seekers; Mustafa Elkhonezy, an aircraft engineer and entrepreneur; Abdelhamid Elmarya, director of the Arab Cultural Center; and other newcomers - residents of Latvia.
