The Last Picnic

Perfomance

”Five Last Picnics” occur in unusual, seemingly remote areas of Riga, soon to be affected by urban changes. Last Picnics have been held and will continue to take place in the marshes of Ganību Dambis, the start of Vienības Gatve, the territory between the State Revenue Service and the heat and power plant TEC1, on the beach of Mangaļsala and in Lucavsala. Every Last Picnic is open to everyone and along with more traditional picnic rituals will have artists and ordinary creative individuals develop new performances and actions.

Artist's Bio:

Gundega Evelone (1988) is a multidisciplinary artist. She holds an MA in Sculpture although her practice spans a range of mediums. Her creative practice encompasses two distinctly opposed directions, simultaneously focusing on human interest in various social and historical situations whilst developing work that explores fundamental principles such as space, matter and existence-nonexistence, searching for the point of contiguity between the real, tangible world and individual’s subjective perception. As an author and curator, Gundega Evelone has participated in over 50 different art projects in Latvia and abroad.
