On Friday October 1st, 2021 in Ziedoņārzs, Riga, the public was invited to an interactive cricket performance or a welcome practice session and game with the ČSK (Čaka Super Kings) team, in which old Europe (the Latvian public) had the chance to get to know the new and vital Asia at work, have a swing with the cricket bat in the “right” direction and learn what and in which direction and why one has to hit in cricket.
Cricket entered Latvia through the gates of globalization. A couple of years ago, Indian, Pakistani and Thai students of universities and institutes started playing it as a hobby across a number of parks in Rīga. For a while now, these university clubs have merged into the Latvian Cricket Federation. Games are held on a regular basis across several leagues, and cricket has become an officially recognized sports in Latvia as well.
